The war in the Middle east triggered by the joint US And Israeli attack on Iran expanded dramatically Monday. Casualties and destruction reported across at least nine countries, including major strikes on Tehran. Israeli and US Warplanes launched a fresh wave of strikes across Iran. Preliminary figures are 555 dead in Iran, 10 dead in Israel and four US soldiers have been killed.
Lansing has joined the dozens of cities across the country what organizers called a coordinated day of action. People rallied at the Michigan State Capitol. The Answer Coalition and other partner organizations are demanding the US Halt the escalation of war with Iran. The group is calling on congressional leaders to sign the War Powers Resolution, which would limit President Trump's use of military force without congressional approval.
Gasoline prices in the state are up 14 cents since last week. The American Automobile association says drivers in Michigan were now paying an average of $2.99 a gall regular, up 9 cents from this time last month and up 2 cents from this time last year. The most expensive gas price averages are in Ann Arbor, Detroit and Saginaw.
In sports, the Lions traded running back David Montgomery to the Houston Texans in exchange for offensive lineman Juice Scruggs.
