KCQ News with John Conrad Good morning. The European Union has decided against expanding its naval operations around the Strait of Hormuz. Despite President Trump's criticism of allies for not supporting the U.S. and securing the vital waterway, oil prices jumped 4% Tuesday as uncertainty lingered over a U.S.-led coalition to protect shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. 

 

Gas prices across the state have spiked sharply over the past month. Some stations charging more than $4 a gallon for regular. According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of gas surged to $3.65. One week ago, the average was $3.52. A month ago, gas was less than $2.98 a gallon. That's a 67-cent jump in just 30 days. 

 

Vice President J.D.Vance will be in the state tomorrow he's expected to speak to employees at a manufacturing plant in Auburn Hills in Oakland County.  

 

AAA will activate its Tow To Go program tonight at 6. It's an effort to help keep impaired drivers off the road during St. Patrick's Day celebrations. Tow To Go offers intoxicated drivers a "free ride home" and to tow their vehicles within a 10-mile radius. Members do not need to be members of AAA to use the service.
