For years, guys everywhere have proudly claimed the “dad bod” was the ultimate goal. You know… just enough gym time to say you work out, but also enough pizza to keep life interesting.
Well, a new report may have delivered some rough news for Team Dad Bod. Researchers looked at dating app data and survey results to figure out which body types people find most attractive.
And according to the study, the “perfect” male body was considered around 15% body fat… basically the lean, athletic build that looks like someone actually enjoys doing burpees on purpose.
The second most popular look? Around 20% body fat. The classic dad bod territory at 25% came in third. So the dad bod isn’t out… but it may need a little cardio.
Meanwhile, the results for women were very different. The study found the “perfect” female body type landed around 30% body fat, proving that ultra-thin wasn’t actually the top choice. In fact, both 30% and 25% ranked higher than the thinnest option researchers showed participants.
So what’s the takeaway here? Apparently people like healthy, realistic body types… but maybe not the “I eat mozzarella sticks four nights a week and call mowing the lawn exercise” level of dad bod.
