Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, backed by President Donald Trump, defeated four-term U.S. Senator John Cornyn in the Republican Senate primary runoff. The result highlighted Trump’s continued influence over the Republican Party and delivered a major setback to the party establishment in Washington, D.C. 

Bay City leaders have narrowed the list of city manager candidates down to four. The next step in the process will take place during a commissioner’s meeting on June 8th, where officials hope to make a final decision. Mayor Christopher Girard says all candidate interviews will be available online through the city website. 

Saginaw County authorities are warning residents about a jury duty scam. Victims are receiving phone calls from scammers claiming to be with the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office, saying they missed jury duty and must immediately pay a fine to avoid arrest. Authorities say never give out personal information over the phone and contact the Sheriff’s Office directly if you receive one of these calls. 

Consumers Energy is planning power interruptions this weekend for residents in Byron, Hemlock, and Davison as part of grid and security upgrades designed to help prepare for severe Michigan weather. The utility says outages are scheduled during milder weather periods and overnight hours to minimize disruptions. 

In sports, the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the San Antonio Spurs 127 to 114 in Game 5. The Angels topped the Tigers 10 to 6, while the Great Lakes Loons crushed the Dayton Dragons 14 to 3.
