Summer movie season is officially here.
That means giant buckets of popcorn, ice-cold drinks, air-conditioned theaters, and at least one movie you'll leave halfway through wondering, "How did this get made?"
While Hollywood is getting ready to unleash a fresh wave of summer blockbusters, movie fans at Ranker.com have been busy voting on the worst blockbuster movies ever made.
And let's just say... some of these films belong in a museum. Not a movie theater.
The Top 10 Worst Blockbusters of All Time
-
Battlefield Earth (2000)
-
Jaws: The Revenge (1987)
-
Catwoman (2004)
-
The Adventures of Pluto Nash (2002)
-
The Last Airbender (2010)
-
Fantastic Four (2015)
-
Super Mario Bros. (1993)
-
The Mummy (2017)
-
The Dark Tower (2017)
-
Jonah Hex (2010)
Just looking at that list probably triggered a few painful memories.
"Jaws: The Revenge" featured a shark that seemed to hold personal grudges.
"Battlefield Earth" somehow made an alien invasion feel longer than a Michigan winter.
And the 1993 version of "Super Mario Bros." left audiences asking one important question:
"Did anyone involved actually play the game?"
Of course, every bad movie has its defenders.
Some people love these films because they're so bad they're actually entertaining.
Kind of like watching someone back a boat trailer into a lake on a busy summer weekend. You know it's a disaster, but you can't look away.
A New Summer of Movie Magic... Hopefully
The good news? This summer's lineup looks a lot more promising.
Big movies headed to theaters include:
Masters of the Universe
Disclosure Day
The Death of Robin Hood
Toy Story 5
Supergirl
Minions & Monsters
Moana
The Odyssey
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
That's a pretty stacked lineup.
Of course, every movie sounds amazing in the trailer.
Then again, somewhere back in 2000, somebody watched the trailer for "Battlefield Earth" and thought, "Yep, this is gonna be a classic."
History had other plans.
The Real Question...
What's the WORST movie you've ever paid to see in a theater?
Was it one of the movies on this list?
Or was it something so bad that you still want your money back years later?
Let us know. Summer movie season is here, and we're ready to celebrate the blockbusters... and laugh at the disasters.
