There's progress being made toward ending the conflict between the United States and Iran, but there are still plenty of details to work out.

Vice President J.D. Vance says a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the fighting is expected to be ceremonially signed Friday in Geneva. The agreement focuses on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, lifting the U.S. naval blockade, and providing financial incentives to Iran if certain benchmarks are met. Vance described the agreement as a broad framework, with many specifics still to be negotiated.

Meanwhile, oil prices have fallen to their lowest level in three months as investors wait for more details on the agreement.

Closer to home, Michigan drivers are paying a little more at the pump this week. According to AAA, gas prices are up two cents from last week, with regular unleaded averaging $4.19 per gallon statewide. That's down 70 cents from a month ago, but still $1.10 higher than this time last year.

In local news, Tittabawassee Township commissioners have approved an application from Jupiter Power Company to build a battery storage facility near Hackett and Tittabawassee Roads. The site would store electricity and send it back into the grid during periods of high demand. Developers say the project could generate millions of dollars in tax revenue over its lifetime.

In college sports, Michigan State is once again searching for an athletic director. Jay Batt is leaving East Lansing after just over a year on the job to take the same position at the University of Kentucky. Batt previously served as athletic director at Georgia Tech before coming to MSU.

On the diamond, the Detroit Tigers rolled past the Houston Astros 9 to 3.
