Think That Influencer Is Real? It Might Actually Be A.I.

Scrolling through social media, it's getting harder than ever to tell who's real and who's computer-generated.

A growing number of influencer accounts are now powered entirely by artificial intelligence, creating lifelike photos and videos that can fool even experienced users. While some virtual influencers are clearly labeled, others aren't so obvious.

Here are a few signs that the person behind the profile may not be real:

1. It Seems Too Good to Be True

If a stunning stranger suddenly starts messaging you out of nowhere or seems unusually interested in you, proceed with caution. Many fake A.I. accounts are designed to build trust before promoting products or attempting scams.

2. They're Pushing You to Buy Something

Be especially skeptical if an influencer is urging you to buy a supplement, miracle pill, or health product right away. Scammers often use fake A.I. personalities to promote products with exaggerated or completely false claims.

3. Watch Their Hands and Face

Although A.I. has improved dramatically, it can still struggle with small details. Hands, fingers, lip movements, blinking, and facial expressions may appear unnatural or inconsistent, especially if you watch closely.

4. The Videos Are Very Short

Short clips are much easier for A.I. to generate convincingly. The longer a video runs, the greater the chance you'll notice visual glitches, strange movements, or inconsistencies.

Stay Skeptical

Artificial intelligence is improving at an incredible pace, so spotting fake influencers is becoming more difficult every day. Before trusting someone online, especially if they're asking for money, promoting a product, or sending you direct messages, take a few extra moments to verify who they are.
