Powerful Earthquake Strikes Colombia
A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake has struck western Colombia, killing more than 100 people. According to Colombia's geological service, it is the strongest earthquake recorded in the country during the 21st century. Rescue crews continue searching damaged areas as officials assess the full extent of the destruction.
Executive Order Targets Childhood Vaccine Schedule
President Trump has signed an executive order calling for changes to the childhood vaccination schedule by separating the MMR vaccine into three individual shots given during separate medical visits. The President said he believes giving the vaccine all at once may be harmful. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says there is no published scientific evidence showing any benefit to separating the MMR vaccine into multiple doses.
Michigan Lawmaker Introduces FLOC Camera Bill
A new bill introduced by Michigan State Senator Jim Runestad would limit government access to automatic license plate reader systems, commonly known as FLOCK cameras. Under the proposal, law enforcement would generally need a warrant before accessing the database, unless the search involves an active criminal investigation, a missing person case, or a stolen vehicle investigation.
MDOT Wants Your Input on Michigan's Future
The Michigan Department of Transportation is asking residents to weigh in on its Michigan Mobility 2050 long-range transportation plan. The State Transportation Commission has approved the framework, and public comments are now being accepted through MDOT's website.
