CIA Director Makes Surprise Trip to Moscow
CIA Director John Ratcliffe made a surprise trip to Moscow this week, according to multiple media reports.
Ratcliffe reportedly met with representatives from Russia's intelligence services as concerns continue to grow about the possibility of further escalation in the war in Ukraine.
The purpose of the meeting was reportedly to warn Russia against attacking NATO.
President Donald Trump described the meeting as "semi-routine," as the administration continues diplomatic efforts surrounding the war in Ukraine.
Slotkin Meets With Bay City and Bay County Leaders
U.S. Senator Alyssa Slotkin met Wednesday with Bay City and Bay County leaders for a roundtable discussion focused on challenges facing the community.
Among the issues discussed were housing, infrastructure and public safety.
Slotkin emphasized the importance of getting outside Washington and hearing directly from people in the communities she represents.
"You've got to hear what people are talking about," Slotkin said. "You've got to come to their communities and hear directly from them."
She said what she learns during visits across Michigan helps her determine what she needs to fight for in Washington.
Nearly $3.7 Million M-46 Project Coming to Merrill
Drivers in Gratiot and Saginaw counties will soon see construction along a section of M-46.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin a nearly $3.7 million resurfacing project Tuesday, September 8.
The project will cover 12.5 miles of M-46, stretching from Crosswell Road to the western village limits of Merrill.
Work is expected to continue through Friday, October 16.
Drivers traveling through the area should plan for potential delays and changing traffic patterns while the work is underway.
Tigers Shut Out by Rays
The Detroit Tigers were shut out by Tampa Bay, falling 3-0 to the Rays.
The Tigers will soon welcome a familiar face back to Comerica Park.
Tarik Skubal will return to Detroit when the Los Angeles Dodgers visit for a three-game series. Skubal is scheduled to start Friday night's Game 1.
Detroit traded Skubal to the Dodgers on August 1, and his last start at Comerica Park came July 29.
Great Lakes Loons Blank Lansing
The Great Lakes Loons picked up a 2-0 shutout victory over the Lansing Lugnuts at Dow Diamond.
The Loons' pitching staff kept Lansing off the scoreboard as Great Lakes came away with the win.
