Iran, Politics, Elections & Detroit Lions: Your Mid-Michigan News Update

It’s been a busy start to the week, with developments overseas, politics in Michigan and plenty happening in sports.

 U.S. & Iran

The United States and Iran have exchanged attacks for the first time in more than a month.

Iran fired missiles toward U.S. military targets in Jordan, saying the attack was retaliation for a U.S. strike on Iranian rocket launchers. The U.S. said those launchers were being prepared to deploy sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz.

 Vance Coming to Michigan

Vice President J.D. Vance is in Michigan today, where he's scheduled to headline a political event in Sterling Heights alongside Michigan Republican nominees and other Republican leaders.

The event is being hosted by MAGA Inc., a super PAC supporting Donald Trump, and is scheduled at Rosalie Technologies and Engineering and Manufacturing Facility.

 Michigan Voter Rolls

The Michigan Office of Auditor General has released a report examining how the state's voter rolls are maintained and updated.

According to the report provided for this story, the review examined selected processes used by the Michigan Department of State to maintain the state's qualified voter file, which contains approximately 8.3 million registered voters.

 Djokovic Stunned at U.S. Open

One of tennis' biggest stars is already out of the U.S. Open.

Novak Djokovic lost a five-set match to Argentina's Mariano Navone, ending Djokovic's incredible streak of 77 consecutive first-round Grand Slam victories.

 Scheffler Wins Again

Scottie Scheffler has won the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club.

Scheffler pulled away from Norway's Viktor Hovland on the back nine to win by three strokes. It's his 22nd PGA Tour victory and his second FedEx Cup championship in three years.

 Lions Win Final Preseason Game

The Detroit Lions wrapped up the preseason with a 17-13 victory over the Indianapolis Colts Saturday.

Now it's time for the games that count. Detroit opens the regular season at home against the New Orleans Saints on September 13th.

 Tigers Fall to Dodgers

The Detroit Tigers dropped a 6-1 decision to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
