Mid-Michigan News: Early Voting Surpasses 1.39 Million, Midland Named Top Retirement City

Election Results, Early Voting and a Big Win for Midland

Here's a look at what's happening around the world, across Michigan, and right here in Mid-Michigan.

Israelis Await Election Results After High Voter Turnout

Anxious voters in Israel are watching election results unfold after a strong turnout appeared to deliver a rebuke to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's far-right government.

Exit polls showed no clear winner, suggesting that weeks of political negotiations could lie ahead. Voter turnout was the highest in more than 25 years, highlighting the importance of the election and the country's deeply divided political landscape.

Michigan Early Voting Passes 1.39 Million

There's less than a week to go before Election Day, and more than 1.39 million Michigan voters have already cast their ballots, according to the Secretary of State's office.

Early in-person voting sites opened statewide Saturday, giving voters another opportunity to make their voices heard before Election Day on November 3.

If you're planning to vote by mail, remember that your ballot must be received by your local clerk by 8 p.m. on Election Day. A postmark alone isn't enough, so don't wait until the last minute!

Midland Named America's Best Place to Retire

Here's some good news for the Great Lakes Bay Region: Midland has once again claimed the top spot on U.S. News & World Report's ranking of the best places to retire in America.

The ranking recognizes Midland's affordability and potential tax savings for retirees. Midland also earned the number-one position last year.

It's the only Michigan city in the national top 10, with three other Michigan locations also appearing in the top 25.

For a region known for its community spirit and quality of life, that's certainly something to celebrate!
