Team –
UPDATE
Cooper is off today.
With the exception of some small tweaks and adjustments, the KCQ website re-design is complete. As you know, we’ve streamlined it. We’ve been adding stories and audio for the last couple months and will continue to do so. Weekend staff, we will be going over “how to blog” in a separate email. If you see anything unusual, out of place, misspelled or incorrect, please shoot me a text asap. We’ll get it fixed.
Don’t forget the Bay Boater's Forecast. Thu - Sun at 6:50, 7:50, 11:50, and 5:50! There is a sponsor signing on soon. Watch for details.
The Bay Celebrates America's 250th Birthday with patriotic songs starting June 29th!!
KCQ’s Throwback Summer continues with another 15 songs added to keep the mix of music fresh each weekend.
Job number 1 is making sure all commercials play on time and in the correct hours. At the end of each hour at :58, there is an OpX command called Resync. Any audio that has not played by :58, will be deleted.
This is what’s called a SOFT resync. That means, whatever is playing on the air at 58 will continue playing until its normal end, then the OpX will delete all audio still in that hour and jump to the Legal ID.
If you are in a commercial break at :58, it will drop the commercials. Job number 1 is to make sure this does not happen, hour to hour on all stations. When you check Joe and Bay hourly, this is part of the check. Make sure that the last break of the hour plays well before the resync at :58.
If needed, you are allowed to move any song from before a commercial break to after so that the commercials play on time and so the resync does not drop any commercials.
You can ALWAYS delete the resync any time. But if you do, you have to manually drop the last few songs of an hour. The legal ID is the start of every hour so the 3 songs, just before the legal ID are droppable. If you have any questions, please email me asap!

AIRCHECK
Our rated period continues until the end of the month and there are still hundreds of quarter hours to earn. When a KCQ listener reports they listen for 5 minutes, inside any quarter hour, we get credit. Because the system is based on listeners remembering what they listened to we BRAND our station names just like a cow on a cattle ranch. Make your BRANDING undeniable. The stations that say their name more, win ratings. It’s as simple as that. As a DJ we want our branding to come organically and often. If you can say our name 2-3 times in a break, we’ve got a fighting chance to earn ratings.
In addition to branding, we have also created a list of success factors that give us the best chance of winning. They include: start the song and speak, prove you’re LIVE and in the room, tease, sell new music, post on socials, prepare, rehearse, localize and brand. When writing, creating and performing content, these guidelines will help you earn ratings.
Lastly, keep in mind, HOW you deliver content is as relevant as what your content is. Shut everything else off and sound like you’re having fun. We need your authentic enthusiasm. That burst of energy, even for just a few seconds over a song intro, defines our sound and shapes the mood of the listener. When the mood is fun, light, localized and energized our stations sound the place to be. That will earn ratings.
Please stay focused. Great localized content. Sound like you’re having fun! Execute your on air checklists so we can all be successful!
Thank you and have a great weekend!
