Welcome Back Abby Olenick! Abby has had some free time open up in her work schedule and she’ll be returning to MBC for part time work.  Please joining me in welcoming her and helping her get back up to speed!  We’re lucky to have such a conscientious, hard-working talent with radio experience sharing her talents with us on the weekends.

Check your email for air checks.  The ratings period has begun and we need to make sure we are executing at the highest level!  Please read your notes and reply with any questions or needs you may have!

Final weekend of the Bay Boaters Forecast this weekend, 6:50, 7:50. 11:50, and 5:50.

Weather cart numbers are on the studio dry erase board.  Please make sure you’re saving weather to the proper cart numbers.  If you’re off by a single digit, the weather will not air. 

Starting tomorrow (Saturday 9/19) KCQ’s Weather Cart number is changing to IMG-0000.

Also, there will be a weather cart on KCQ on the log every hour moving forward.  It’s generally around :35 after the hour.  That means it will appear automatically after spots and before we head back to programming.  The cart number must be IMG-0000 (starting Saturday.) PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU END DATE AND END TIME every weather you produce and label them as KCQ WEATHER, JOE WEATHER, BAY WEATHER or BAY BOATER’S FORECAST.  This is critical for the display in cars. 

Update weathers as often as needed or at least every 2 hours.

We’re working on new engineering ticket system for when we have repair or technical needs.  We’ll meet to discuss next week. Watch for new implementation instructions soon.

Next Friday is September 25^th.  That would make it 9-2-5.  Dolly Parton celebrations are happening all across the country.  We’ll be featuring a Dolly track every hour all day to commemorate Miss Dolly.

There will be a National EAS test on November 17^th at 2:20pm.

Comedian Jo Koy is coming to the Dow on 10/9.  Next week at 7:30am, KCQ will have ticket winners.

KCQ and Joe are working on some very localized Fall Book contesting to start in October.  We want to highlight all the amazing amenities Mid-Michigan has to offer.  More soon!

AIRCHECK

Your vocal tempo can tell the audience a few things:  What you’re saying is important.  It has value and energy.  You respect their time because you are getting to the point.  You have practiced it and you’re delivering it with them in mind. 

When our tempo is “out for a Sunday walk,” we lose something. Passion.  Energy. Immediacy.  When you know where you are driving, you take the most direct route.  You don’t drive around the block or the neighborhood slowly.  Keep your pace UP.  Keep your energy positive.  When you sound like you’re having fun, we win.

Now that listeners are reporting what they listen to, let’s review. 

Every hour from 6am – Midnight is rated, 7 days a week, for 12-13 weeks.  Each hour is split into 4 quarter hours.  We need listeners to report that they listened for 5 minutes in each quarter hour to earn ratings.  Much of their report will be from memory and that’s why we brand.  We say are names, organically, over and over.  We’re trying to get into the most in demand space in the world, someone’s mind.  Our on air success factors are based on how people listen and how they fill out our report card.

Give us every fighting chance to earn and keep listeners.  Execute the On Air Success factors and remember to ADD something to a listeners listening experience.  What did you say that they didn’t know?  What twist or angle did you take that intrigued them, informed them, made them smile?

Thousands and thousands of listeners tune in and out, every minute of every hour.  Be prepared.  No warm up breaks.  Make sure you’re executing every time!

It’s another college football weekend and after the Lions loss we probably want to focus there.  We’re also experiencing fall temps and those are both great themes.  LOCALIZE your content and find GREAT local content hourly!
