Israel has launched airstrikes on Iran in apparent defiance of President Trump after he urged restraint over a reprisal attack by Tehran.

It was the first exchange of direct strikes between the two enemies since a ceasefire paused the U.S.-Israel war with Iran in April. Iran's attack came in response to earlier strikes on Beirut by Israel.

Oil prices rose immediately as Iran and Israel traded strikes. According to an OPEC statement, OPEC has agreed to increase oil output by 188,000 barrels per day beginning in July, marking the fourth approved oil output increase since the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer is asking President Trump to approve a major disaster declaration for Michigan after the severe storms, flooding, and tornadoes that struck the state in April. If approved, the declaration would make federal assistance available to families, businesses, and local governments recovering from damage caused by the storms between April 10th and April 21st.

In sports, Kevin McGonigal homered in the fourth inning and hit a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth to give the Detroit Tigers a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.

Tarek Skubal pitched five scoreless innings in his first minor league rehabilitation appearance since undergoing elbow surgery last month. Skubal struck out six and allowed just two hits for Single-A West Michigan against Dayton.

The Lansing Lugnuts defeated the Great Lakes Loons 13-4.

The Knicks host the San Antonio Spurs tonight for Game 3 of the NBA Finals. The Knicks lead the series two games to none. Tip-off is set for 8:30.
