Man Calls 911 to Get Out of a $63 Red Lobster Bill

There are plenty of ways to get out of paying a restaurant bill.

Pretend you left your wallet at home.

Suddenly remember you're "allergic" to credit cards.

Or, apparently, call 911 and fake a medical emergency.

A 26-year-old Georgia man named Abdul Rasheed was arrested last week after police say he faked a medical emergency at a Red Lobster because he didn't want to pay his $63.77 dinner bill.

We're guessing the phrase "all-you-can-eat shrimp" may have been taken a little too literally.

Rasheed called 911, first responders showed up, checked him out...

And determined he was completely fine.

Which is probably when someone at Red Lobster said, "Great news! Your medical emergency is over. Here's your bill."

He's now facing charges of theft of services and making an unlawful 911 call.

And his bond is reportedly set at $3,000.

So congratulations, sir. You may have discovered the most expensive way possible to avoid paying a $63 dinner.

The Michigan Version

Now, if this happened at a Michigan restaurant, things might have played out a little differently.

Imagine trying this at a Red Lobster in Saginaw.

You call 911 and say, "I think I'm having a medical emergency!"

The first responders show up.

They check you out.

You're fine.

Then somebody looks at the $63.77 bill and says:

"Well, good news. You're healthy enough to pay for it."

And if the bill included endless shrimp?

That's when the real emergency might begin.

Because here in Michigan, we've got enough experience with questionable decisions after eating too much food.

Just wait until Thanksgiving.

And let's be honest, if you really wanted to escape a restaurant bill in Michigan, you could probably just tell everyone you're going to stand outside and scrape the ice off your windshield.

By the time you're done, the restaurant may have closed.

Rasheed is still reportedly in jail, with a $3,000 bond.

At this point, he might want to start saving his money.

Because if his plan was to avoid a $63.77 dinner bill...

He may have accidentally ordered the $3,000 combo meal.
