Pink or Blue? More Parents Are Hoping for Baby Girls!

So much for the blue wave! When it comes to gender reveal parties, it seems more parents these days are hoping to see PINK!

According to a new report from the New York Post, the preference for baby boys appears to be fading, with a growing number of parents saying they'd rather welcome a little girl.

For years, research consistently showed that parents were more likely to prefer having a son. But things started changing around 2018, and a new survey of nearly 45,000 people across 44 countries found that 19% of women preferred having a daughter, compared to just 12% who preferred a son. About two-thirds said they didn't have a preference either way.

The trend is even showing up in adoption services. Research suggests prospective parents are favoring girls so strongly that it has translated into a difference of roughly $16,000 in adoption costs.

So what's behind the shift?

Some experts think it comes down to family relationships. Daughters have developed a reputation for being the family glue, particularly as they get older, start families of their own, and help keep everyone connected.

There's also the growing conversation around boys' behavior, toxic masculinity, and the challenges parents might face raising sons in today's world.

Of course, not everyone agrees that there's been a major shift. Some experts say they aren't seeing much difference in what parents want.

And sometimes, gender disappointment has less to do with whether it's a boy or a girl and more to do with what a family already has. Maybe it's a couple hoping for a girl after having three boys, or parents welcoming their fourth daughter. Then there's the older brother or sister who's already decided whether they want a baby brother or baby sister!

Here in Michigan, we're used to seeing plenty of blue and maize, but when it comes to the next generation, maybe pink is getting a little more popular!

Happy National Nacho Day! Nachos Are Pretty Much Everybody's Business

Happy National Nacho Day! It's a food a LOT of us are crazy about. Although the depths of our love are... well, NACHO BUSINESS! Sorry, it's Friday. The cheese jokes are already melting.

A new poll found that 82% of Americans enjoy nachos, while just 3% say they don't like them. Another 14% are somewhere in the middle.

That's an impressive approval rating, enough to make nachos America's favorite Mexican food. There's just one little problem with the rankings: TACOS WEREN'T EVEN AN OPTION! How do you have a Mexican food popularity contest without tacos? That's nacho right!

Here's how the nine dishes ranked:

  1. Nachos: 82% love them.

  2. Salsa and burritos: Tied at 80%.

  3. Fajitas: 79%.

  4. Quesadillas: 77%.

  5. Guacamole: 70%.

  6. Chimichangas: 62%.

  7. Chili con carne: 59%.

  8. Huevos rancheros: 53%.

Nachos aren't just winning in the Mexican food department, either. They also landed in the top five most popular dishes overall, according to the survey.

Chocolate chip cookies took the top spot at 85%, followed by eggs and bacon at 83%. Lasagna and nachos tied at 82%, with spaghetti and meatballs right behind at 81%.

Mac and cheese came in at number 13 with 77%. Sorry, mac and cheese fans. Looks like nachos have you beat!

A Little Nacho History

Nachos actually have a pretty interesting origin story. They were invented in Mexico back in 1943 by a man named Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya, who worked as a maître d' at a restaurant called the Victory Club.

According to the story, a group of women walked into the restaurant. Their husbands were officers stationed at nearby Fort Duncan, a U.S. Army base.

Ignacio wanted to get them something to eat quickly, but couldn't find the chef. So he improvised, cutting fried tortillas into triangles, topping them with shredded Colby cheese and sliced pickled jalapeños, then heating everything up.

The women loved it and asked what the dish was called.

His answer? "Nacho's Special."

And just like that, a snack legend was born!

So today, whether you're loading yours up with cheese, jalapeños, salsa, sour cream, guacamole or pretty much everything in the refrigerator, enjoy National Nacho Day.

And remember, if somebody asks how many nachos you've eaten, that's NACHO BUSINESS!

Wall Street Takes a Hit, Michigan Approves $19.4 Billion Transportation Plan

Stocks took a major hit Thursday as concerns about a possible slowdown in artificial intelligence investment rattled investors and sent markets sharply lower.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq dropped more than five points, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged more than 1,800 points, a decline of over 3 percent. The S&P 500 also fell more than 4 percent.

The sell-off came as investors worried that the massive buildout of artificial intelligence technology could be slowing down, raising concerns beyond the tech industry and across the broader market.

Meanwhile, Michigan has approved a major transportation spending plan.

The State Transportation Commission has signed off on the state's final five-year transportation program, outlining an anticipated $19.4 billion in spending on highways, bridges, public transportation, rail and aviation projects.

The final plan will be sent to the Michigan Legislature, the State Budget Director and House and Senate fiscal agencies by March 1.

And with winter weather approaching, MDOT crews have been getting ready across Michigan.

Transportation workers conducted their annual winter maintenance inspections this week at garages throughout the state, including facilities on both the east and west sides of Saginaw.

Crews inspect snowplows and other equipment using a checklist covering dozens of items before the winter maintenance season gets underway.

MDOT also has a reminder for drivers: Michigan law requires motorists to stay at least 200 feet behind an operating snowplow. Give those crews room to work when the snow starts flying.

In college basketball news, Central Michigan University's men's basketball coach Andy Bronkema is on leave. The university has not provided a reason for the leave.

The Chippewas are scheduled to host the Alma Scots tonight at 7 o'clock in their home opener.

Sports

In the NFL Thursday night, the Jacksonville Jaguars handled the Baltimore Ravens, winning 33-to-10.

On the ice, the Vegas Golden Knights edged the Detroit Red Wings, 2-to-1.

Tomorrow night, Michigan and Michigan State meet on the football field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30.

The Detroit Lions are back in action Sunday, hosting the Miami Dolphins with kickoff set for 1 p.m.

Mid-Michigan Weather

For Mid-Michigan, expect cloudy skies today with a 50 percent chance of showers and a high near 45.

Tonight will remain cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain and a low around 35.

Saturday starts mostly cloudy before skies gradually become sunny, with a high near 52.

Sunday looks mostly sunny and breezy, with temperatures climbing to around 59 degrees.

Too Cold and Dark for a Walk? Here Are Some Michigan Ways to Get Your Steps In!

If you're somebody who enjoys taking a daily walk, you've probably noticed it's getting harder to stick with the routine lately.

The days are getting shorter, the temperatures are dropping, and around here in Michigan, the weather forecast can go from sunshine to freezing rain before you've even found your other glove.

Let's face it, when it's dark, cold, and windy outside, walking around the neighborhood doesn't sound nearly as appealing as sitting on the couch with a blanket.

But don't give up on those steps just yet!

Fitness experts say there are plenty of ways to stay active without having to bundle up like you're heading to the North Pole.

Here are six ways to keep moving when Mother Nature isn't cooperating:

1. Walk around your house.
You don't need a fancy treadmill. Walk laps down the hallway, around the living room, or through the kitchen. Just watch out for the dog, the coffee table, and that one spot where everybody drops their shoes.

2. Take the stairs.
If you've got stairs at home or work, put them to use. A few trips up and down can get your heart pumping. Just don't make so many trips that you start wondering why you didn't build a ranch-style house.

3. Get some outdoor chores done.
When Michigan gives you a decent weather day, take advantage of it. Rake leaves, clean up the yard, shovel snow when it arrives, or tackle those outdoor projects you've been putting off.

4. Walk around the mall or grocery store.
This is a great option when it's too cold outside. You can get your steps in while doing a little shopping and people-watching. Just be careful. You might head into Meijer for a 20-minute walk and come out $75 poorer with a cart full of things you didn't know you needed.

5. Have a dance party!
Put on your favorite music and dance around the house. Nobody needs to see your moves, and nobody needs to know you just did three songs of cardio to your favorite country playlist.

6. Move more at work.
Take the longer route to the printer, use the stairs instead of the elevator, or get up and stretch throughout the day. Even small changes can add up.

And if you're somebody who gets comfortable in a chair and forgets to move for hours, set an alarm on your phone to remind you to get up, stretch, or take a quick walk.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

You don't have to walk five miles outside in freezing Michigan temperatures to stay active. A little movement throughout the day is better than spending the entire winter hibernating until the first robin shows up.

So whether you're doing laps around the living room, walking the aisles at Meijer, or dancing around the kitchen, there are plenty of ways to keep moving.

Dating Green Flags That Turn Redder Than a Michigan Stoplight!

When it comes to dating, everybody has a list of green flags. You want somebody funny, loyal, independent, financially responsible, and maybe a little adventurous.

Sounds perfect, right? Well, sometimes those attractive personality traits come with a little fine print.

Someone on social media asked: "What's a personality trait you find attractive in theory, but can't actually tolerate in a full-on relationship?"

And the answers are a pretty good reminder that sometimes the things you love about somebody at first can drive you absolutely nuts six months later.

Here are eight examples:

1. The sarcastic comedian.
A little sarcasm can be hilarious. But when every serious conversation turns into a comedy routine, it gets old. Eventually, you don't want a punchline. You want an actual answer. There's only so many times you can hear "Well, aren't you a ray of sunshine?" before you start considering separate bedrooms.

2. The super-frugal partner.
Being responsible with money is attractive. Having somebody question a $4 coffee like you're trying to purchase the Mackinac Bridge is another story. There's saving money, and then there's splitting a dinner bill down to the last pickle.

3. The nonchalant personality.
At first, somebody who's laid-back and doesn't sweat the small stuff seems great. But then they're nonchalant about EVERYTHING. You could tell them a meteor is heading toward Michigan and they'd respond, "Well, that's unfortunate."

4. The ride-or-die loyalist.
Loyalty is important, but there's a difference between having your back and defending you when you're clearly wrong. If you back into somebody's car at Meijer, your partner shouldn't automatically blame the shopping cart.

5. The tough guy or girl with a soft spot.
It's romantic when somebody seems tough to the rest of the world but sweet to you. Until you realize they're rude to waitresses, impatient with cashiers, and yell at people who take too long at the Tim Hortons drive-thru. Eventually, that sweetness might wear off when you're the one they're snapping at.

6. The extremely independent partner.
Independence is attractive. Nobody wants a partner who needs help figuring out how to operate a microwave. But there's a point where independent turns into completely disconnected. You could disappear for three days and they'd probably just assume you went up north for the weekend.

7. The artsy dreamer.
Creative, spontaneous, and full of big ideas sounds wonderful. Until you realize they have absolutely no concept of time. Dinner reservations are at 6, but they're still painting something, looking for their keys, or explaining a dream they had Tuesday night. Meanwhile, you're sitting in the parking lot wondering if you'll ever eat.

8. The high-energy romantic.
A passionate relationship sounds exciting, but eventually there are nights when you just want to put on sweatpants, order pizza, and watch television. Not every evening needs to feel like the season finale of a romantic drama.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

Dating is funny because sometimes the qualities that attract us to somebody are the exact same qualities that eventually drive us crazy.

A sarcastic person is funny until nothing is serious. A frugal person is responsible until they start auditing your Taco Bell order. And somebody who's super laid-back is relaxing until you realize they're not going to help you make a single decision.

Here in Michigan, we already deal with unpredictable weather, potholes, construction season, and people who forget how to drive the second it snows.

Maybe our relationships could use a little less drama, too!

Mid-Michigan News: Trump Addresses GOP Losses, Benson Outlines Priorities, Lions' Jack Campbell Shares Injury Update

President Donald Trump says the war with Iran played a role in Republicans' disappointing election results. As more House races are projected for Democratic candidates, Trump addressed comments made by Vice President JD Vance, saying they were largely true.

Some Republican lawmakers are pointing fingers at Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, blaming him for the historic losses. The House could vote as soon as next week on whether to impeach the Pentagon's top leader.

Here in Michigan, Governor-elect Jocelyn Benson spoke to supporters Wednesday following her election victory. Benson says her priorities include lowering costs, protecting voting rights, and building a state government that works for all Michiganders.

Meanwhile, Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell has shared an encouraging update after suffering an injury during Sunday's game. Campbell says he has full movement in his lower body and is continuing to make progress with movement in his upper body.

In a statement, Campbell said he knows there's still work ahead, but remains very optimistic. He says he's taking things one day at a time, staying positive, and focusing on getting better.

In sports: The Detroit Pistons fell to the Philadelphia 76ers, 112-to-106. And in college football, Central Michigan took down Eastern Michigan, 35-to-7.

Your Mid-Michigan forecast: Expect cloudy skies today with rain moving in mainly after 1 p.m. High near 56. Tonight will stay cloudy, with a 40% chance of rain and a low around 38.

Friday brings more clouds and rain possible before 4 p.m., with a high near 48. Saturday looks better, with partly sunny skies, a little breeze, and a high around 52.

When Dinosaurs Fight Over the Checkout Line, Somebody's Having a Bad Halloween!

You know Halloween has gotten out of hand when the dinosaurs are fighting over who's next in line at the grocery store!

Deputies in Georgia arrested a couple dressed in dinosaur costumes at a Publix supermarket on Halloween night after an argument with another customer turned violent.

According to police, Scott Harrison and Kayleigh Welch-Harrison got into a disagreement with another shopper over who was next in the checkout line.

Apparently, these dinosaurs weren't interested in waiting their turn. Police say the couple pushed their way ahead of the other customer.

Security camera footage reportedly shows the couple checking out when Kayleigh turned around and started arguing with the same customer again.

That's when things took a seriously prehistoric turn.

Police say Scott pushed Kayleigh out of the way, pulled out a gun, pointed it at the other customer and hit them with it.

Thankfully, nobody was injured.

Both members of the dinosaur duo were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Scott is also facing felony charges of aggravated assault, battery and brandishing a firearm.

Now, we've all been stuck behind somebody taking forever at the grocery store. And if you're shopping at Meijer, Kroger or Walmart here in Michigan, you know the checkout line can test anybody's patience.

But pulling a weapon because somebody might have gotten in front of you? That's taking grocery-store frustration to a whole new Jurassic level!

THE QUESTION: What's the craziest thing you've ever witnessed in a grocery store?

A fight over a checkout line? Somebody arguing over a coupon? Or a person letting their kids run wild through the aisles?

We're guessing nobody in Mid-Michigan has seen two dinosaurs fighting over a grocery cart... at least not yet!

Apparently, the 1990s Were the Golden Age of Christmas!

If you're getting into the holiday spirit by cranking up Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," watching Home Alone for the 47th time, or remembering when Christmas morning meant tearing into presents before your parents were even awake, you're not alone!

A new survey found that 81% of people get nostalgic when thinking about the holidays. And the decade that brings back the warmest Christmas memories? The 1990s!

About 31% say the '90s had the best holiday memories. The 2000s came in second at 21%, followed by the 1980s at 15%.

And if you grew up in Michigan during the '90s, you probably have a few memories of your own. Maybe it was driving around looking at Christmas lights with a thermos of hot chocolate, waiting for the big snowstorm, decorating the tree while your favorite Christmas specials played on TV, or making sure nobody touched the presents under the tree.

The survey also found that 93% of parents like to recreate parts of the holidays they experienced growing up. That includes family traditions, homemade recipes, uninterrupted time together, holiday movies and TV specials, gift-giving and decorating the house.

Apparently, we're all trying to give our kids a little taste of the Christmas we remember.

And here's an interesting one: The survey says the most magical age to experience the holidays as a child is 6 years old.

Of course, they didn't ask about the most magical age for adults. My guess is somewhere around the age when you can afford the presents but still have somebody else cook Christmas dinner!

So here's the question: What decade gave you the BEST Christmas memories?

The '80s, '90s, 2000s or today? And what's one Christmas tradition from your childhood that you still wish you could experience again?

Because around Michigan, nothing brings back memories quite like the first real snowfall, Christmas lights on the houses and the smell of something good cooking in the kitchen.

Democrats Score Major Midterm Victory; Michigan Elects New Governor and U.S. Senator

Democrats are celebrating a major victory in the midterm elections, flipping control of both chambers of Congress from Republicans. The results set the stage for Democrats to challenge President Donald Trump's policy priorities from a stronger position in Washington.

Democrats were on track to hold at least 54 seats in the U.S. Senate, while Republicans were expected to hold at least 42.

Here in Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed has won the U.S. Senate race, defeating Republican Mike Rogers for the seat being vacated by Senator Gary Peters.

Michigan will also have a new governor. Democrat Jocelyn Benson defeated Republican Congressman John James. Benson previously served as Michigan's Secretary of State, first winning that office in 2018.

Lieutenant Governor Garland Gilchrist has won the race for Secretary of State. Gilchrist has served alongside Governor Gretchen Whitmer since 2019.

In the U.S. House, Representative Kristen McDonald-Rivett has declared victory in Michigan's 8th Congressional District race.

And closer to home, Shadrach Green retained his seat in the 35th District State Senate race, receiving more than 68,000 votes. The district includes portions of Bay, Midland and Saginaw counties.

Michigan voters also weighed in on two ballot proposals.

Proposal 1 was rejected. It asked voters whether Michigan should hold a constitutional convention to consider rewriting the state's constitution.

Proposal 2 passed. It amends the Michigan Campaign Finance Act, changing rules involving campaign contributions and financial disclosures. The proposal also targets contributions from companies holding more than $250,000 in state government contracts and Michigan's utility monopolies.

In sports, the Tampa Bay Lightning skated past the Detroit Red Wings.

And here's a look at your Mid-Michigan forecast:

Today: Cloudy and windy with rain, with an afternoon high around 71.

Tonight: Cloudy with rain possible before 8 p.m. Overnight low around 50.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a 30 percent chance of rain after 4 p.m. High around 58.

Friday: Cloudy, with rain likely after 1 p.m. High around 50.

Remember Tamagotchi? There's a New Virtual Pet for Thanksgiving... And It Might Make You Do the Dishes!

Remember those little handheld virtual pets from the '90s? Tamagotchi, Giga Pets and all those gadgets that made you feel guilty if you forgot to feed a tiny digital dinosaur?

Well, there's a new version just in time for Thanksgiving. And this one might actually make your family more useful around the dinner table!

Butterball has introduced something called the Butterball Buddy, a turkey-shaped digital gadget designed to help Thanksgiving hosts get their guests involved in the holiday chores.

Think of it as a virtual pet mixed with a Magic 8 Ball... except instead of telling your fortune, it might tell you to peel potatoes or take out the trash!

Here's how it works: One person starts with the little turkey device. After a chime and vibration, it assigns them a Thanksgiving task. That could mean helping with food preparation, serving dinner or tackling the cleanup.

Once the person finishes their assignment, they pass the Butterball Buddy to the next willing family member.

And yes, apparently the goal is to get people to actually HELP instead of sitting on the couch waiting for dinner!

Butterball says the idea came from a survey showing that 85% of Thanksgiving hosts would like help preparing for the holiday, but only 38% actually ask their guests.

Sounds like somebody finally figured out how to get Uncle Bob off the couch!

The gadget has a fun, old-school look, almost like one of those little pagers from the '90s. Best of all, the Butterball Buddy is FREE.

The first batch went out Monday and sold out, but additional giveaways are scheduled for Monday, November 9th, and Monday, November 16th. Quantities are limited.

You can find more information at ButterballBuddy.com.

NOW THE BIG QUESTION: If you had a Butterball Buddy at your Thanksgiving dinner, what chore would you hope it NEVER assigned you?

Doing the dishes? Taking out the trash? Peeling 20 pounds of potatoes? Or being stuck entertaining that one relative who talks for three hours?

Because let's face it... Thanksgiving is great, but somebody's got to do the dishes!

Why Do We Vote on a Tuesday? You Can Blame the 1800s!

Have you ever wondered why Election Day always seems to fall on a Tuesday, right in the middle of the workweek? Wouldn't a Saturday or Sunday make a whole lot more sense?

Well, there's actually a pretty interesting reason, and it goes all the way back to 1845!

Back then, America was a very different place. Most people lived in rural communities and worked in agriculture. Early November was chosen because the fall harvest was mostly finished, but winter weather hadn't yet made traveling too difficult.

And why Tuesday?

Believe it or not, it all came down to people's schedules.

Many voters had to travel long distances to reach their polling places, sometimes by horseback, wagon or even on foot.

Sunday was reserved for church and rest, so Monday became the travel day. Wednesday was traditionally market day in many communities, leaving Tuesday as the perfect day to vote.

There's even a reason Election Day is specifically the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. That ensured it would never fall on November 1st, which was often reserved for important county business and court proceedings.

So, while Tuesday might seem like a strange day to hold an election today, it made perfect sense back in the 1800s.

And here in Michigan, imagine making that trip to vote in November without a heated car, snow tires or even a paved road!

Today, most of us can drive to our polling place, grab a coffee along the way and get back to our regular routines.

Election Day: Control of Congress Is Up for Grabs

Millions of Americans are heading to the polls today to decide the direction of Congress and deliver their verdict on the first two years of President Donald Trump's second term.

Polls and nonpartisan analysts are favoring Democrats to take control of the House of Representatives from Republicans. The battle for the Senate remains much less certain, with nearly 10 closely contested statewide races, most in traditionally Republican states.

Michigan voters can head to their assigned polling locations today between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

If you haven't voted yet, today is your chance to make your voice heard!

U.S. Launches Limited Strikes on Iranian Island

The United States launched limited strikes against Iran's Qeshm Island late Monday, according to reports.

Unnamed U.S. officials describe the attacks as defensive in nature. The Wall Street Journal reports that recent strikes have been smaller in scale and deliberately kept secret by the Trump administration.

The reported strategy is intended to avoid signaling any plans to restart a broader military campaign against Iran.

New Community Health Center Opens in Bay City

There's some good news for Mid-Michigan residents looking for health care services. Great Lakes Bay Health Centers has officially opened its new Bayside Community Health Center in Uptown Bay City.

Located at 102 East Main Street, the new facility brings several services together under one roof.

Patients will have access to primary and pediatric care, women's health services, dental care, behavioral health, vision services, pharmacy and laboratory services.

The goal is to make it easier for Bay City-area residents and families to access multiple types of health care in one convenient location.

Detroit Lions Provide Update on Jack Campbell

There's encouraging news regarding Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell.

Campbell suffered a neck injury during Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

The Lions have now released a statement saying Campbell is resting and that things are looking positive.

The team says it won't release any additional information out of respect for Campbell and his family.

Fans will certainly be hoping for a full and speedy recovery.

Pistons and Monday Night Football Scores

The Detroit Pistons had a big night on the basketball court, defeating the Charlotte Hornets 124-91.

Meanwhile, in Monday Night Football, the Chicago Bears took down the Seattle Seahawks 34-17.

Whatever your plans, welcome to November!

Could We Have ANOTHER Time Change in November? Here's Why Michigan Might Be Springing Forward Again!

If you just got used to turning the clocks back this weekend, you might want to hold off on changing the time on your microwave just yet. Believe it or not, there's a possibility we could be springing forward AGAIN before November is over!

The debate over getting rid of daylight saving time is heating up once again, and this time, President Donald Trump wants Congress to get moving.

The proposed Sunshine Protection Act would make Daylight Saving Time permanent, meaning we'd get more daylight in the evenings and wouldn't have to change our clocks twice a year anymore.

The bill previously passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 308 to 117, but it got stuck in the Senate.

Now, President Trump is pushing lawmakers to make the legislation a priority and get it passed as soon as possible.

Here's where things get interesting: If the bill passes as currently written, we'd immediately move our clocks forward one hour, even though we just fell back!

But not everyone agrees on which time should become permanent.

Some lawmakers, including Republican Senator Tom Cotton, want permanent Standard Time instead. Their argument is that keeping the mornings lighter would make things safer for kids heading to school in the dark.

Meanwhile, supporters of permanent Daylight Saving Time would rather have that extra sunshine in the afternoon and evening, giving people more daylight after work.

And there's a deadline. If Congress doesn't pass the legislation before the end of the year, the bill expires, meaning lawmakers would have to start the process all over again with the new Congress in 2027.

A recent poll found that 56% of Americans prefer permanent Daylight Saving Time, while 42% would rather stick with permanent Standard Time.

So, here's the big question for Michigan: Would you rather have more sunshine when you're driving home from work, or more daylight when you're heading out the door in the morning?

Either way, it sounds like our clocks might not be done giving us headaches just yet!

Note: This is a proposed change, not an announced time change. Michigan's clocks will continue following the existing schedule unless Congress passes legislation and it takes effect.

Iran Offers to Reopen Strait of Hormuz, Early Voting Surges and Lions Beat Vikings

Here's what's happening across the country and right here in Michigan.

Iran Says Strait of Hormuz Could Reopen Within Two Days

Iran says it's prepared to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within the next two days, but there's a catch. The United States would first have to agree to Iran's conditions. An Iranian foreign ministry spokesman says messages are being exchanged with the U.S. through mediators, but everything depends on whether American officials accept Iran's demands. The Strait of Hormuz is a major shipping route for the world's oil supply, making the situation an important one to watch.

Early Voting Is Surging Across America

Millions more Americans are voting early compared to the last midterm election. According to an Associated Press analysis, more than 43 million people have already voted either in person or by returning mail ballots. The biggest increases are happening in states with competitive Senate races, suggesting voters aren't waiting until Election Day to make their voices heard.

Michigan Political Surprise: Haley Stevens Endorses Mike Rogers

Detroit Lions Beat the Vikings, Move to 5-2

The Detroit Lions are now 5-2 after picking up a 19-15 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. It wasn't an easy afternoon, though. All-Pro linebacker Jack Campbell was placed on a backboard and carted off the field early in the fourth quarter with a neck injury. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Head coach Dan Campbell said he didn't have any additional information about his condition. The Lions will head home to prepare for next Sunday's matchup against the Miami Dolphins.
