1.5 Blogging

You may have noticed all the content being populated on the right side of the KCQ Home Page.  Soon, these stories will populate the Bay and Joe websites as well.

Each member of the air staff is being asked to produce one blog post per show.  That means you're writing some content and adding to the website, just as you might write some content to deliver on the air.

For Google searches and AI scrapes to find our website, we need the written word on our pages.

The good news is the content choices you make are nearly identical to what you might choose to say on air.  In fact, most of your on air breaks can be lengthened and more detailed in written form.  Those deserve a blog post.

Topics to consider:

Local events

Country Music

Pop Culture

Movies and Hollywood stories

Local discounts and bargain finds

Maybe a personal story with a light, humorous twist.

Public Service Announcements

The content choices for your blogs are the same as for on air, but in written form.

We will detail how to log in and the step by step technical process below.

RULE NUMBER 1!  You can not simply copy and paste someone else's writing and call it our blog.

What ever the topic is, you'll need to re-write the content and add a Michigan perspective, YOUR perspective.

Once you've chosen and written your content, you need a click-worthy headline.  Like teases, I love a great question.

"Who was spotted selling their own merch on tour?"

"Why are so many Michiganders running the Crim this year?"

"We asked Michiganders.  Where is the best burger?

Each blog post will require a photo.

RULE NUMBER 2!  Unless you took the photo yourself, you must use the FREE USE photos that are provided by our website.  Your blog about the Crim can be a pic of a running shoe.  Your blog about Lainey Wilson's wedding can have a pic of a wedding dress.

As you can see from our site, the photos are part of the visual display, but very detailed pics are not super critical.
